Spark: A Jewelry Stand that Shines Bright

Bringing Elegance and Functionality to Jewelry Organization

Spark, a highly customized jewelry stand designed by Yike Liu, combines elegance and functionality to provide a unique solution for organizing and displaying jewelry. Inspired by the beauty of fireworks and sparklers, Spark aims to evoke a sense of shine and confidence in its users.

Spark stands out from other jewelry stands with its innovative design and attention to detail. It consists of a mirror, two stands, and a base part, all crafted with precision and care. The smaller stand serves as an adaptor to transform the mirror into an extended platform or a holder for rings, bracelets, or earpieces. The spark-shaped stands and crisscrossed notches provide a secure and stylish way to display various types of jewelry.

One of the standout features of Spark is its use of materials. The combination of brass and marble creates a visually stunning contrast that enhances the beauty of the jewelry. The brass rods of the spark-shaped stands are connected using a customized metal cast connector and epoxy glue, ensuring durability and stability. The mirror is embedded between two layers of brass, with the brass edge designed higher than the glass mirror to prevent friction between the layers. The base part, made of Carrara Pietra Marble Honed Marble, features a brass middle section that perfectly fits the mirror and adds an extra touch of elegance. To protect surfaces, a layer of felt is added below the base part.

Assembling and using Spark is a breeze. Users can choose to purchase the entire set or customize their own combination. The stands easily plug into the base, and rotating them allows for convenient placement and removal of jewelry. The smaller stand's notches are perfect for hanging rings, bracelets, or earpieces, and can also be used as a mirror holder. For additional space, the small holes near the edge of the mirror can be locked together with the smaller stand to create an extended stable platform. The larger stand's lower branch is designed to accommodate longer necklaces, providing a practical solution for storage and display.

The Spark project began in Philadelphia in October 2019 and was completed in early December 2020. Throughout the design process, Yike Liu conducted extensive research to address common issues with jewelry stands, such as lack of aesthetics and functionality. The choice of materials and production techniques were carefully considered to ensure the highest quality and visual appeal.

Spark has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that exhibit creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skill, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With its unique design, attention to detail, and elegant materials, Spark is a jewelry stand that truly shines. It not only provides a practical solution for organizing and displaying jewelry but also adds a touch of sophistication to any space. Let Spark light up your jewelry collection and bring a sense of elegance to your daily routine.
